Dr. Xin-an Liu is an Associate Investigator at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She has more than 10 years of experience in studying the neuro-metabolic physiological effects of nicotine and other vapor substances. Before setting up her own laboratory, she studied nicotine addiction in the laboratory of Paul J. Kenny at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. She has received more than 20 national and local research grants to support her research and has published more than 40 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Current Biology, Translational Psychiatry, PNAS, Cell Rep and Nature Medicine. In addition, since establishing her own laboratory, she has received several awards and honors, such as "Distinguished Young Investigator Award" (2019) from SIAT, CAS and "Peacock Talent" from the Shenzhen Municipal Government. She is a member of the Autonomic Nerve Committee of the Chinese Physiological Society, Vice President of the Children's Branch of the Shenzhen Brain Science Society, a member of the Chinese Medicine Nebulisation Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CAPTCM), and has been invited as a reviewer for international academic journals. She founded WuKang Life Sciences Ltd. in 2023, based on the platform of SIAT, CAS, to provide solutions for safety and functional assessment of novel nebulised substances for PMTA standards.
